Levitra (Vardenafil) is a prescription only medication treats erectile dysfunction (ED) or male impotence – a condition where men are unable to get or keep an erection for enjoyable sexual intercourse. It belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitors.
The medication increases the blood flow to the male organ by removing the blockage caused in the arteries and the blood-vessel to get a sustainable erection during times of sexual intercourse. Levitra is available in the tablet form containing 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg. Always take this medication after consulting with your doctor.
Dosage and Administration
For most patients, the recommended starting dose is 10 mg taken orally with or without food as needed, approximately 60 minutes before sexual intercourse. The dose may be increased to maximum recommended dose of Levitra 40 mg or decrease to 5 mg based on effectiveness and side effects. The maximum dosing frequency is not more than once a day. If you have certain health conditions, your doctor may advise you to use this medication less often.
Your physician will probably start you on a lower dose and increase or decrease your dose, depending on your response to the treatment. Swallow the whole medication with a full glass of water, do not chew or crush it.
